Lorrie Morgan will perform at the 5th Annual T.J. Martell Foundation Best Cellars Celebrity Dinner at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on September 20. Funds raised will support the T.J. Martell Foundation’s initiative to fund the Physician-Scientist Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“This is such an honor for me,” she said. “The T.J. Martell Foundation, and its continued and unwavering effort to offer help—through its research and hosting events such as this—to those stricken with horrific and unthinkable diseases, is a charge very close to my heart. I am looking forward to being in good company with people of same heart and sharing fine wines!”
The gala will include a gourmet four course meal as well as a number of wines from some of the finest wineries from around the globe. Lorrie herself has her own wine, a limited edition American Sangiovese named after her hit song “Something in Red.”
A Champagne Reception will kick off the event, followed by the dinner, live auction and Lorrie’s performance. The T.J. Martell Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that funds research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS at 12 top research hospitals nationwide. T.J. Martell, and its friends in music, has raised more than $650,000 for the mission of funding the Physician-Scientist Program at MD Anderson.
The Physician-Scientist Program at MD Anderson helps launch careers of the best and brightest young faculty members with independent federal grant support. Graduates of the program are established, independent researchers well prepared to become the leaders of translational cancer research both nationally and internationally.
