Carrie Underwood will perform as part of a special tribute honoring the 50th anniversary of 1963 television milestones during the 65th Annual Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 22. The Emmy Awards will air live on CBS at 8/7c.
As part of the tribute, six-time Emmy nominee Don Cheadle will honor television’s role in the assassination coverage of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 and then connect that event to the performance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show 80 days later on February 9, 1964.
Both events are thought of as two of the most significant television moments in history with the Emmy segment tying the two together. Following Don’s presentation, Carrie will honor the music from the era with her performance.
