ACM Lifting Lives has announced that the October “My Cause” web feature will spotlight Lauren Alaina and the Special Olympics Project UNIFY. Lauren is a Special Ambassador for Project Unify, and traveled to Pyeongchang, South Korea last January for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
The web feature drives awareness of artist-supported charitable organizations and supports fundraising efforts for those philanthropies. The monthly series brings awareness to artist-supported charitable organizations. It also supports fundraising efforts for those organizations. “My Cause: Special Olympics Project UNIFY” highlights an education-based project that uses the sports and education programs of Special Olympics to encourage young people across the United States to promote school communities where they are agents of change for people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics believes that through sports, young people can make a difference in friendships, schools and communities.
My Cause allows ACM Lifting Lives to demonstrate the Academy’s support of country artists. Over the past two years, ACM Lifting Lives has donated more than $190,000 to artists’ favorite charities and will again make donations.
ACM Lifting Lives is the philanthropic arm of the Academy of Country Music, dedicated to improving lives through music. Each year, the organization provides grants to music therapy and music education programs. It also supports members of the country music community facing unexpected medical or financial hardship.
