Alan Jackson’s “Blacktop” has debuted at No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today chart as the most-played bluegrass song in America. The song is featured on Alan’s The Bluegrass Album and marks only the third time a song has entered the Bluegrass Today chart at No. 1.

Alan wrote eight of the songs found on The Bluegrass Album. The project is spending its second week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums sales chart after debuting in the top spot. It is Alan’s first entry on the chart and he is only the fourth country artist to top the list, the first being Merle Haggard.

Alan will perform songs from The Bluegrass Album in concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall on October 28. Musicians from the album will join him for the special show. On October 29, he will appear on CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman and on November 6, he and George Strait will perform together in a tribute George Jones during the 47th Annual CMA Awards.
