Thomas Rhett’s debut album, It Goes Like This, hit stores October 29 and features the title track, which is also his first No. 1 as an artist. It includes his first two singles, “Beer with Jesus” and “Something to Do with My Hands.” The three songs are quite different from each other, but reflect the changes Thomas has been through in the last few years.
“This record has been recorded over a two-year period of time and a lot has changed in my life in two years,” he said. “The way that I wrote two years ago, compared to the way that I write today is really different. [But] there’s always that Thomas Rhett factor. I mean, you can go back and listen to my horrible, horrible demos that I did when I was 19 years old and then listen to the record today and I promise, you will still see the cohesiveness.”
Thomas is proud that the album has a song for everyone. “Whether you’re more into the traditional side of country or the new kind of trend of country or the rock side of country, there’s a little bit of everything on there,” he said.
Thomas shared the stories behind the songs of It Goes Like This on his website in celebration of the release. Read the cut-by-cut and watch Thomas talk about the songs on video at thomasrhett.com.
