Blake Shelton has been the coach to beat on NBC’s The Voice, having one of his team members win three of the show’s four seasons. Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery, winners of seasons three and four respectively, have followed in Coach Blake’s country footsteps, both recently releasing debut albums. Cassadee has nothing but good things to say about her mentor.
“He’s somebody that’s always gonna be there,” she said. “I had moments where I was really insecure. He always was there to reassure me that I was doing the right thing and as long as I was happy and doing me, that it was good. He was just there, and that’s all a coach really needs to do. They just need to pat you on the back and be there for you.”
Even though The Voice days are behind them, Blake hasn’t stopped being an influence on their careers. He stays in touch with both of them, offering advice and feedback on their music.
“Once I started working on my album and it got finished, I showed him some of the songs that were on it,” Danielle said. “It was really cool getting his opinion on things and what he thinks about how I’ve done so far after the show and, yeah, we are keeping in contact as much as we can.”
Both Danielle and Cassadee are busy promoting their debut projects, but they keep up with season five of The Voice as best they can. The big question is, will Blake win for a fourth year in a row? Danielle certainly thinks so.
“I mean, it’s Blake Shelton,” she said. “He probably could do anything he sets his mind to — he’s won three times and he knows what he’s doing.”
The season finale of The Voice season 5 will air December 17 on NBC.
