Christmas tends to bring around a sense of nostalgia with the reminiscing of holidays gone by. For George Strait, some of his favorite Christmas memories are of gathering with family to celebrate the season.
“At Christmas time, we always got together at my grandparents and had Christmas there, and it was a lot of fun because you’d see cousins that you hadn’t seen in a while,” he said. “Those are the memories that I have, getting to spend a few days with them and opening presents and it was just a lot of fun back then.”
Fellow Texan and country newcomer Eric Paslay has similar Christmas memories. He grew up in the same town as much of his extended family, which meant big family gatherings – and lots of new toys.
‘I remember always [on] Christmas Eve, we’d go to my grandmother’s and we’d open up gifts from the family,” he said. “My great-aunt lived across the street so all of those cousins, we’d go over there and hang out and steal some more cookies and kind of show what you got and play with the toy for five minutes and move on to the other cousin’s toys.”
Both George and Eric will likely spend the holidays relaxing as they have big plans for 2014. George will launch the final leg of his The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in January while Eric will release his self-titled debut album on February 4.
