Thomas Rhett ended 2013 strong, coming off a three-week No. 1 with “It Goes Like This” and also topping the chart as a songwriter on Florida Georgia Line’s hit “’Round Here.” His latest single, “Get Me Some of That,” is climbing the charts. Thomas can see the momentum shifting in his career.

“We were on the ‘Night Train’ tour with Jason Aldean, it started in February and we’d go out there some nights and it would be 80% full and we’d go out the next night and it’d be 50% full when I walked onstage,” he said. “That was when ‘It Goes Like This’ had just first come out. I noticed that as the song was climbing the chart, it would get in the Top 20, then it’d get in the Top 10 and you could tell that more and more people were showing up.”

Now, not only are the crowds getting bigger, more people know his music. “You get up there and you’re singin’ songs that people shouldn’t know and they know ‘em,” he said. “Now that the record’s out, obviously, but before the record came out people were comin’ and requesting songs I didn’t even know the words to that I had written two years ago. And I’m like, ‘How do you know these songs?’, and they’re like, ‘YouTube, man.’

“Now that the record has come out and we get out there and we play all twelve songs, plus some, and people are singing every word to every song,” he continued. “I’ve definitely seen a No. 1 does wonders for an artist’s career.”

Thomas will join Brantley Gilbert’s Let It Ride Tour later this month. Watch Thomas’ “Get Me Some of That” music video >>
