Tim McGraw is planning to release a new album in May, featuring his latest single, “Lookin’ for That Girl.” With the time he has spent in the studio over the years, Tim has learned a lot about how he approaches the recording process.
“It’s about making a great record, about making something you feel proud of,” he said. “If it doesn’t purge you emotionally, then you’re not gonna have the reaction you want from the fans who listen to it, because music has to be cathartic, and all art is about purging your emotions.”
Tim also tries to achieve the unachievable in the studio. “It [leaves] some questions unanswered, and it [makes] you wanna go back in again and try to answer those questions, knowing that those questions aren’t gonna be answered the next time you do it either,” he said. “It’s what makes art and an artist propel, and makes listeners stay engaged with you.”
Tim will kick off his Sundown Heaven Town Tour this spring.
