After more than a decade in the country music industry, Rascal Flatts has reached a point in their career where younger artists are citing them as musical inspirations. The band find it flattering that they have been able to inspire the next generation of country artists.
“It always makes you feel good,” Jay DeMarcus said. “You know, anytime you’re recognized for any of the work that you’ve done, and it’s touched somebody in some way and inspired them to do something. I’m very, very, very proud of that.”
They have also enjoyed hearing their songs become part of pop culture in a way that is timeless, yet still relevant. “You think about some of these songs that people are getting on American Idol or The Voice. Some people are still singing ‘Broken Road’, that song was already 10 years old by the time we got it. You talk about timeless music.”
The band’s latest single, “Rewind,” is at radio now. It is the lead single from their upcoming album, expected out in May.
