Great American Country extends condolences to the family, friends and fans of singer Kevin Sharp, who died Saturday, April 19 at the age of 43. Kevin is best known for his 1996 debut single, “Nobody Knows.”
As a high school senior, Kevin was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, which had spread to his lungs. Through the Make A Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, Kevin met producer David Foster. After his cancer treatments, Kevin went into remission in 1991. Foster’s connections helped Kevin land a record deal with country label Asylum. Kevin’s debut single, a cover of the Tony Rich Project song “Nobody Knows,” topped the country charts in 1996.
Over the weekend, Kevin’s website posted this statement:
We are saddened to announce the passing of Platinum Country Recording Artist Kevin Sharp on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 10:00 pm PST. Born on December 10, 1970, Kevin took the Country Music scene by storm with his first No. 1 hit, “Nobody Knows.” He had several other hits to his name and in the last few years, traveled the country with an extremely successful Motivational Speaking career.
Kevin died due to ongoing complications from past stomach surgeries and digestive issues.
It is requested that if anyone would like to make a donation in Kevin’s memory, that donations be made to the closest Make A Wish Chapter in the donor’s area so that wishes can continue to be granted for other children. Click here to donate to Make A Wish >>
