The early morning hours of Monday morning turned frightening for Scotty McCreery and some of his friends when they became victims of a home invasion robbery. According to ABC affiliate WTVD-TV, three armed men entered the group’s apartment near the North Carolina State campus where Scotty is finishing up his sophomore year. The suspects took cash, wallets and electronics before fleeing the scene. No one was hurt.

“Yes, it was definitely a very scary night,” Scotty wrote on Facebook. “Luckily, my friends and I are safe and the Raleigh PD is on the case. I will share more when the time is right, but as of now we do not want to do or say anything that could hinder the investigation. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. A huge thank you to the Raleigh PD for their quick response and hard work in solving this case.”

After winning Season Ten of American Idol in 2011, McCreery released his debut album, Clear As Day, which became the best-selling solo album released by a country artist that year.
