Two of the biggest female voices in country music are coming together for a duet at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood will team up for “Somethin’ Bad,” a duet found on Miranda’s new album, Platinum, set for release on June 3.
“I’m a huge Carrie Underwood fan,” Miranda told Billboard. “‘Somethin’ Bad’ is a meshing of our styles and there aren’t many female collaborations in our format, so I’m really excited to be debuting it on the Billboard Awards.”
While Miranda was thrilled that Carrie agreed to sing on the track, she admits to being nervous. “Singing with Carrie Underwood is very, very intimidating,” she said. “I’ll be honest. She is an amazing vocalist. Asking her to do this was nerve-wracking. I sent her an e-mail, a long, blabbing e-mail about if she wanted to sing on the record, it could be cool, but maybe she didn’t want to, and if she liked the song, but she didn’t have to like the song … and when I sent it, I thought, ‘This sounds ridiculous.’”
Will there be a Miranda and Carrie video coming soon? Miranda sure hopes so. “I’m hoping that she’ll come to the dark side and blow something up and set something on fire in the video,” she said.
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 18 at 8/7c on ABC.
