Time Life is offering a rare Hank Williams: The Complete Mother’s Best Recordings…Plus! boxed set. At the peak of his career in 1951, Hank Williams recorded 143 songs for the Mother’s Best Flour Company radio show, singing with his regular studio band. He recorded his biggest hits as well as songs never commercially recorded. Now, they are available in a historic CD/DVD collection.
“This treasure-trove of music will introduce my daddy to a whole new generation of fans and bring memories to his existing fans,” Jett Williams, Hank Williams’ only daughter, said. “Everyone will get to know the man and his musical genius as never before. These recordings were my vehicle to get to really know the father I never met.”
The limited edition, deluxe set comes in a radio collector’s box with the radio having a sound clip of the show’s introduction. The set includes 15 full-length CDs, with several performances available for the first time ever, plus a bonus DVD featuring conversations with the last two members of Hank’s Mother’s Best Band.
Additionally, the set includes a 108-page illustrated hardcover book with previously unpublished photos and related memorabilia. Inside the book is an introduction by Hank Williams, Jr. and an afterward penned by Jett Williams. Completing the set is a poster-sized map chronicling Hank’s 1951 touring schedule.
