The new renovation reality show Tori and Dean: Cabin Fever premieres Friday, July 4 at 10/9c on Great American Country. See what happens when Hollywood meets country.
Celebrity couple Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott spend a summer outside the glitz, glamour and pressures of Los Angeles to build new memories. Together, they’ll renovate a lakeside cottage, all while living there with their four children – Liam, Stella, Hattie and Finn.
“Everyone knows that my family built one of the biggest houses ever,” said Tori. “Now that I am a wife and mother and have a family of my own, I want to build houses, but I want to jump in there and do it ourselves. I want us to create the home we live in.”
While they’ve faced many challenges during their marriage, adjusting to an outdoorsy and unpredictable way of life – while renovating their dream vacation home – may be Tori and Dean’s liveliest test yet. With no restaurants, no stores and no indoor plumbing, this Hollywood family is determined to transform their run-down cabin into a stylish getaway. For Dean, the move is a homecoming, but for the rest of the family it’s uncharted territory.
With kids in tow, the couple spends a summer exploring life in the great outdoors and putting their DIY experience to work. Each 30-minute episode follows the family as they experience the highs and lows of cottage life, including outdoor showers, outhouses, mosquitoes and eccentric neighbors. They even expand their family by adopting a couple goats, chickens and a litter of rabbits.
“In Cabin Fever, we see just how down-to-earth Tori and Dean are, especially when they tackle the same challenges that any of us might face during a home remodel,” said Steven Lerner, senior vice president of programming and development for Great American Country and its sister networks, HGTV and DIY Network. “Renovating a home together can be one of the most demanding times a family can experience, and we get to see how Tori and Dean manage the stress.”
Tori and Dean: Cabin Fever is part of a surge of new, original programming debuting on Great American Country in 2014.
