Little Big Town has joined team Blake. The band will join Blake Shelton’s team as advisers on the upcoming seventh season of The Voice. The group isn’t shy about admitting they begged Shelton to pick them.
“We begged and begged and cornered him!” Karen Fairchild told Access Hollywood. “It’s a huge honor,” Kimberly Schlapman added. “We love the show. We have always watched it.”
Shelton is not only looking forward to Little Big Town working with his team. He’s also excited people outside the country genre will be exposed to the band.
“There is going to be an entire new audience who is going to find out [who] these people are, which is, they need to know who they are,” he said. “It’s the same thing that happened to me when I started doing this show as a country artist. We don’t get that many opportunities to be on television, and when we do, we got to make the most of it. I mean, if you are a country music fan you already love them, but if you are not necessarily someone who listens to country radio all the time, you are gonna find out who they are, and it’s gonna be a big deal.”
Season 7 of The Voice will kick off on September 27, with Adam Levine joining Shelton as a coach, along with newcomers Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani. The show will air Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7c on NBC. Little Big Town will release their new album, Pain Killer, on October 21, featuring their latest single, “Day Drinking.”
