Sam Hunt’s debut album isn’t set to hit stores until October, but fans won’t have to wait much longer for new music from him. He will release a four-song EP, X2C, on August 12. The EP will include his debut single, “Leave the Light On,” which has sold more than 197,000 copies since its release in June. He wrote or cowrote every song on the EP.
“I didn’t really know you could make a living in songwriting. I was just very fortunate to have the opportunity to play a few songs for a guy there named Jimmy Ritchey,” he said. “Through that meeting, I met another couple guys and ended up getting a publishing deal in Nashville.”
Hunt has also written songs for Keith Urban and Billy Currington. He will join Kip Moore’s Up in Smoke Tour in September.
