Blake Shelton is one of country music’s most lovable acts, well-known for his sense of humor, especially on Twitter. But in his new single, “Neon Light,” he is revealing his mean side. The tune is a revenge song about forgetting an ex over a few drinks and a potential rebound.
Shelton took to Twitter to promote his new single, calling out a number of famous friends to help spread the word. Fellow The Voice coach Adam Levine was among those Shelton asked for a favor. “Hey @adamlevine … Brag about my new single #neonlight,” he tweeted. Shelton also tweeted at celebrities such as Hoda Kotb, Carson Daly, Oprah Winfrey and even President Barack Obama.
“Neon Light” is the lead single from Shelton’s new studio album, Bringing Back the Sunshine, set for release on September 30. Shelton returns his spinning chair on The Voice when the new season premieres on September 22.
