Jason Aldean has been burning the charts up with his new single, “Burnin’ It Down.” The single will be featured on his sixth studio album, Old Boots, New Dirt, set to hit stores October 7. Aldean announced the album via Buzzfeed on Monday.
“That title and that song, ‘Old Boots, New Dirt,’ is about starting with a clean slate,” Aldean said. “I’m the same dude, but we’re gonna start over and hit some uncharted territory here.”
Aldean hopes to push country music’s “open-minded limit” with the tunes found on Old Boots, New Dirt by mingling R&B sounds with Southern Rock, pop and classic Nashville sounds. A song found on the new album, “Two Night Town,” encompasses Aldean’s sonic push, as does “Burnin’ It Down.”
“Sonically, this track definitely feels like something different for me and what I have typically put out as the lead single off my previous albums,” Aldean said of his latest single. “I’ve pretty much always gone with a really guitar-driven song that’s pretty in your face, and this is more of a laidback thing with a really cool groove.”
Aldean is currently headlining his Burnin’ It Down Tour.
