Tim McGraw Enjoys New Artists at Awards Shows

Tim McGraw’s song “Highway Don’t Care,” which features Taylor Swift along with Keith Urban on guitar, is up for two CMA Awards, including Music Video of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year. Even though he’s had plenty of nominations over the years, he is always grateful to hear his name listed among the nominees.

“They’re always nice,” he said. “I don’t think anybody does not want to win an award. I’ve been very fortunate to have my career and to be involved in a lot of award shows – nominated, not nominated, win, perform, not win, all those things. Sometimes it’s your year and sometimes it isn’t and sometimes it’s other people’s year.”  Continue Reading

Florida Georgia Line launched onto the country music scene with their smash hit “Cruise.” The song has earned them three CMA Awards nominations, including Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year for the remix featuring Nelly and Duo of the Year. It’s still hard for them to believe the level of success they are enjoying.

“It’s really wild,” Tyler Hubbard said. “It truly is. As a songwriter, it’s kinda like the stuff you dream about. To be able to be an artist and get to travel and play your song for people and to see the response is such a blessing.”  Continue Reading

Lady Antebellum is nominated for two CMA Awards, including Vocal Group of the Year, an award they have won three times, and Music Video of the Year for “Downtown.” Directed by Peter Zavadil, the video is their first nomination in the category. The clip co-stars Beth Behrs from Two Broke Girls and the trio is pretty happy to be up for the trophy.

“It was hands down the most fun video we’ve ever done, and the boys were hysterical in the video,” Hillary Scott said. “I got to bash in a cop car windshield. It was awesome. And then our co-star, Beth Behrs, was amazing. She’s hysterical, so it’s a great one to be nominated for.” Watch Lady A’s “Downtown” video >> Continue Reading

Kacey Musgraves Will Compete with Herself at the CMA Awards

Kacey Musgraves has six nominations at the 47th Annual CMA Awards, including Song of the Year, presented to the songwriter, where she will compete against herself. Her debut single “Merry Go ‘Round,” which she co-wrote with Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally, is up for the trophy as is Miranda Lambert’s No. 1 hit “Mama’s Broken Heart,” which Kacey wrote alongside Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark.

“How lucky can you get?” she said. “Some people don’t even get to have the chance to have one song heard or cut, let alone two. It’s like a huge perspective for me. Just as a songwriter I feel like I’m able to achieve the best of both worlds with having a song that I wrote and got to sing and perform on the radio, and then another artist, a girl that I grew up with 10 miles down the road. To be able to share that and to be recognized for the words that came out of my brain is unreal.” Continue Reading
