Country’s biggest stars are reacting to yesterday’s announcement of the 47th Annual CMA Awards nominees. Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves lead the way, scoring six nominations each. Taylor is up for Album of the Year for Red as well as Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Single, Musical Event, and Music Video of the Year for Tim McGraw‘s “Highway Don’t Care” (also featuring Keith Urban).

Taylor expressed her excitement over the news via Twitter. “6 CMA NOMINATIONS!!!!!! ALBUM AND ENTERTAINER!!! What an excellent way to start the day. Thank you, guys. And thank you CMA.” she tweeted.

Kacey Musgraves is a first-time nominee and is up for Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year. She scored Album of the Year nods as both an artist and producer for Same Trailer Different Park and is nominated twice in the Song of the Year category, an award for songwriters, for her hit “Merry Go ‘Round” and Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s “Broken Heart.”

“My first single, “Merry Go ‘Round” went to radio exactly a year ago today,” Kacey said. “That perspective is really mind-blowing. I’m honestly so humbled right now thinking about this past year and how greatly country music has embraced that song and me. The love I’m feeling from these nominations is something that I could have never expected and I couldn’t be more thankful and overwhelmed in this moment.”

Musgraves, who is a first-time nominee in 2013, has six nominations spanning several categories including those where she will be competing against herself for voters’ attention. She is nominated for Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year; and picked up two more nominations for Album of the Year for Same Trailer Different Park and Single of the Year for “Merry Go ‘Round,” which she produced with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. In the Song of the Year category (which is presented to songwriters) she is nominated twice, once for “Merry Go ‘Round” with songwriters Josh Osborne and McAnally and for Lambert’s hit “Mama’s Broken Heart” with songwriters Brandy Clark and McAnally.

Swift now has 21 CMA Awards nominations and seven wins including her first in 2007 for the Horizon Award (now New Artist of the Year) and two for Entertainer of the Year (2009, 2011), which ties her with Barbara Mandrell for wins in that category by a female artist.
