New Season of CBR Kicks Off May 3 on GAC

GAC host Suzanne Alexander.

The new season of Championship Bull Riding (CBR) on GAC kicks off Tuesday May 3 at 9 p.m. Eastern, with 26 consecutive weeks of non-stop, heart-pounding action. The highly rated show can be seen three times weekly and will culminate in late October with the crowning of the 2011 CBR World Champion.

This promises to be the most exciting season in CBR history, with the most talented bull riders and bovine athletes in the country going head to head in events across America. This year’s Cinch CBR Tour broadcast season will feature a totally fresh look, including new graphics and music, along with hot new features and in-show elements. The show is again hosted by GAC’s own Suzanne Alexander, bull riding icon and CBR President Tuff Hedeman, TV host Jeff Medders and  a new member to the team, rodeo and bull riding commentator Butch Knowles.  Check out Suzanne’s entertaining blog, “No Bull,” HERE! Suzanne Alexander: No Bull, Part 2

GAC host Suzanne Alexander.

Our very own Suzanne Alexander has been immersing herself into the bull riding culture lately — and now she’s blogging about it! Here’s Part 2 of her web series called “No Bull.” And don’t forget to tune in to GAC beginning in May to catch Championship Bull Riding every Tuesday Night!

Fort Worth, Texas. How could anyone not want to visit? It really is one of the coolest cities in Texas. The city marks the fourth stop on the Cinch CBR Tour — and there’s a lot of history to the event. It’s called The Tuff Hedeman Championship Challenge. This was Tuff’s first stand-alone bull riding event. He put it together back in ’92 when he was still competing, which makes this event the longest running indoor bull riding event in the history of the sport. Pretty neat huh? Suzanne Alexander: No Bull, Part 1

Lufkin TX

I find myself flying into Texas quite a bit. This time was different – I flew into Houston instead of DFW. I don’t think I’ve ever been to that airport. It was like a mall! And on the plane there were some familiar faces, like Lee Ann Womack and her family, who must’ve been coming in for the Livestock Show and Rodeo (major event in Houston right now).

Also on the plane was Stokes Nielsen of the band The Lost Trailers. He was going to Texas to check out a new duo who I believe we’ll be hearing more of in the future.

So off to Lufkin from Houston – 2 ½-hour drive north. Not bad. During the drive I listened to a few new albums: Sara EvansStronger and Josh Kelley’s Georgia Clay. Both are really good. You’ll be hearing more about them and from them on GAC very soon.

Back to bull riding. This is the 3rd televised event for the 2011 Cinch CBR Tour. When the crew and I get into town, there’s one agenda: find a restaurant we all like! Dinner is usually 7 guys and me – and you could usually tell that we’re not from “these parts.” Continue Reading
