7 Celebrity Outdoorsmen and Women

“Outdoorsy” probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of most celebrities. Between recording albums, starring in films and strutting down the red carpet in designer clothes, it seems like their lives are nothing but glitz and glamour. But even the biggest stars like to leave the bright lights of Hollywood every once in a while for a good outdoor adventure. With the help of Outdoor Life magazine, we’ve rounded up a list of celebrities who love to hunt and fish.

Luke Bryan
It probably comes as no surprise that this country boy is also an avid outdoorsman. Bryan told Wonders of Wildlife that his outdoor hobbies make him “more relatable to [his] fans.” Remember the song “Drinkin’ Beer and Wastin’ Bullets?” It turns out he meant it.

The spur-of-the-moment concert was announced on the Ladysmith’s Facebook page mere hours before it was to begin. For only $5 apiece, about 80 people attended the up-close-and-personal acoustic performance from the pair and were able to meet the superstar couple after the show.

Miranda Lambert is following up her hit song “Somethin’ Bad,” which featured Carrie Underwood, with “Little Red Wagon.” The song was co-written by Joe Ginsberg and Audra Mae, the niece of Judy Garland. Mae originally included the song on her 2012 album, Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound. Lambert may have never heard the tune if not for one of her musician friends.

“John Eddie is an artist who has come out on the road with us before and opened a few times,” Lambert told NewsOK.com. “He called my tour manager three or four years ago and said, ‘Hey, tell Miranda about this girl Audra Mae, specifically her song ‘Little Red Wagon.’ I think she could rock it.’”

Jana Kramer is used to being successful. Before turning her attention to her music career, Kramer starred in the series One Tree Hill and had a recurring role in Friday Night Lights. Her debut single, “Why Ya Wanna,” reached the Top 5 on the country charts, but her self-titled debut album did not do as well as she had hoped. Kramer was down and out about the lack of sales, but Miranda Lambert gave her the encouragement to keep going.

“I was in a very discouraged time, and [Miranda] was like, ‘You know what, it didn’t happen for me until my second album,’” Kramer told Country Weekly. “I was like, really? You’re Miranda Lambert. I just imagined it happened on the first album. So it really is about keeping on and not giving up.”

MuttNation took over the shelter and renovated after Ray Lokey, a local animal advocate, pushed for change. Lambert’s foundation made a number of improvements to the shelter, including an Airstream office, kennel enlargement, new fencing and an intensive care unit. Miranda Lambert loves her dogs, and husband Blake Shelton just needs to accept that. Lambert recently revealed to People just how far she has gone to make sure her furry family members are safe and loved. “When I’m home, I go get them and bring them to the house,” she told People. “I have four that are in our house most of the time. But I looked at Blake one day and realized if I don’t give him a break from these dogs, he might go crazy.”

Top 10 Moments of the 2014 CMA Awards

CMA Awards 2014 Hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley

The 48th Annual CMA Awards is dubbed as “country music’s biggest night” and this year’s show lived up to the hype, with cross-genre collaborations, first-time winners, a heartfelt acceptance speech from a country legend, and, of course, hilarious co-hosts. In no particular order, here our Top 10 Moments from this year’s CMA Awards:

1. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, Hosts Extraordinaire

In their seventh year of co-hosting the CMA Awards, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood once again brought the funny. They opened by acknowledging George Strait’s retirement and the fact that he was in attendance and scheduled to perform, with Paisley saying “I’m pretty sure when someone rides away, they go somewhere.” Underwood piped up, asking “Do you need one of us to give you a ride?” Paisley and Underwood also covered current events, including Underwood’s pregnancy – Paisley revealed it’s a boy! – Ebola, and, of course, Taylor Swift’s departure form country, also known as “Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder.” The pair said country music would simply need to “Shake It Off.”

Luke Bryan CMA Awards 2014

2. Luke Bryan Wins Entertainer of the Year

Garth Brooks made his triumphant return to the CMA Awards stage to present Entertainer of the Year to Luke Bryan. His first win in the category, Bryan was emotional as he accepted the award. “First of all, I’ve never met Garth,” he said. “Can I hug you again?” After giving Brooks one more hug, he returned to the mic. “I hope I can have enough time to say everything on my mind,” he said. “I have some angels in Heaven. My brother and sister are up there making this night happen for me.” After thanking his family, friends, and the team that supports him, he added, “We’re gonna have a good time tonight.”

Miranda Lamber all about that bass

3. Miranda Lambert and Meghan Trainor’s Delightful Duet

Miranda Lambert teamed up with pop star Meghan Trainor to open the show. The pair performed a memorable, countrified rendition of Trainor’s smash hit “All About That Bass.” Later, Paisley told Trainor she had a place in country music – she just had to wear a pair of cutoffs and change the words to “All About That Bass” to “All About That Bass” – as in a bass fish.
