Rascal Flatts Believes The Best Is Yet To Come

Rascal Flatts has been through a lot of changes in the last year, including signing with Big Machine Records after their former label, Lyric Street, closed its doors. The group likes the new version of themselves and feel they are better and stronger than ever. “We’re not the same three people we were a year ago,” Jay DeMarcus said.

Following changes in their professional lives, the trio sat down together and asked some tough questions – ‘Do we still love this? Is this still something that we have passion for and we want to try to keep getting better at and being better than we were the day before?’ Fortunately for their fans, the answer was a resounding ‘yes.’ Continue Reading

Country fans are often equally as passionate about racing — and now Big Machine Label Group, the musical home of Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts and Martina McBride, is making that love official by securing naming rights for the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with plans to create a festival environment at the track for racing and music fans.

Officially the Brickyard 400 presented by Big Machine Records.com, this is the first time a record label has presented a nationally-televised race in the 100-year history of The Speedway. Before the race on July 31, Justin Moore, The Band Perry, Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett and more will perform special acoustic sets. Rascal Flatts will perform a Continue Reading

2010 Rewind: No. 12 — Rascal Flatts Weathers Disney Shutdown

A dismal, sluggish economy was central to every part of American life in 2010, and it certainly had an effect on Music Row. Nowhere was it more obvious than when Disney shut down the Lyric Street Records office in April, creating turmoil in the lives of several artists, including Rascal Flatts.

The Lyric Street closing and all that it represented is the No. 12 story among country music’s one dozen most important stories of the year.

Martina McBride, Republic and… Reba?

To affix an old Reba McEntire album title on Martina McBride’s career, Martina is… Starting Over.

The Kansas-born powerhouse took part in a press conference Monday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to announce she’s ended an 18-year relationship with historic RCA Records to sign with a label still in its infancy, Republic Nashville Records.

Sound crazy? Well, at a very surface level, maybe. But there’s a much bigger picture to the whole deal. In the process, she becomes the biggest drawing card on Republic, which means she’s sure to get the kind of intense marketing attention that every artist craves. And it puts her at the hottest company in Nashville: Republic is one of three labels of the Big Machine family, part of a playpen that also includes Reba, Rascal Flatts, Justin Moore and The Band Perry. Oh, and some youngster named Taylor Swift.

Rascal Flatts’ New Reason to Smile

You may have noticed that in most of Rascal Flatts‘ publicity photos, they’re stone-faced. No smiles. Not even a grin. But now that the group has signed a new record deal with Big Machine Records (home of Taylor Swift), they’re showing their pearly whites like nobody’s business (see photo above).

“Bam!” said the group’s Jay DeMarcus, pointing to the smiley cover of their new single, “Why Wait,” at last week’s press conference announcing the new deal. Later, Jay joked, “I’m just thrilled that Taylor let us on the label, really.”

“We said, ‘Scott, is she in Europe? Well let’s go ahead and get this done,” added Gary LeVox. With a smile, of course.

At their press conference announcing their new record deal with Big Machine Records, Rascal Flatts joked that label head Scott Borchetta was the proud father of triplets. “And we came out potty trained,” cracked Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus.

“Not very many people get into this industry and are able to look back and say, “We’ve been able to do it for 10 years,” continue Jay. “And that’s what we’re really thankful and grateful for – that someone still wants us after 10 years. I’m so excited about the future and what it holds.

During their announcement, held Thursday, July 29 in Nashville, the trio unveiled the covers of their new album, Nothing Like This, and new single, “Why Wait.” Watch part 1 of the press conference below to see them – and check back next week for part 2: Continue Reading
