Canaan Smith Shares Meaning Behind a Special Tattoo

Canaan Smith likes his ink. He has a few tattoos, but one in particular is especially meaningful to him.

“My last name is Smith, obviously, so I got an ‘S’ on the side of my arm here, but not just for the name; it’s also because of a Bible verse that I really like,” he said. “It says, ‘The Lord is my strength and my salvation and my song.’ So, all three of those ring true to who I am and to who He is to me, and they all start with an ‘S.’” Continue Reading

Canaan Smith is an Outdoors Kind of Guy

Canaan Smith likes to be outdoors. That’s why summer is perfect for him as he gets to play outdoor venues at fairs and festivals. Growing up in Virginia, he preferred to be outdoors rather than sitting in front of a television.

“I love being outside, whether it be the mountains or the beach,” he said. “I spent most of my summers on Virginia Beach, ‘cause I’m from Williamsburg, Virginia. It has a wide enough boardwalk so we could skateboard and get into some trouble, sneaking off and smoking cigarettes. That was what I would do when I was a kid. I’d take my shirt off every chance I’d get, and get out in the sun.” Continue Reading

Lauren Alaina Crashes Prom Night

Lauren Alaina photo courtesy of UMG Nashville.

Lauren Alaina had to miss her junior prom this past Saturday night because she was in Louisville, Kentucky opening for Sugarland on their In Your Hands Tour, reports MusicRow. To make up for it, Lauren pulled a fan onstage for a makeshift prom night dance while she sang the Lady Antebellum song, “Dancing Away With My Heart.”

Prom night didn’t end there for Lauren though. After her set, she learned Lanesville High School, located just six blocks away from the concert venue, was having their prom that night. With the permission of the school’s principle, she and fellow tour opener Canaan Smith made a surprise appearance at the Lanesville prom. The two hit the dance floor for about twenty minutes before heading back to the concert venue.

And just when other music festivals call it a night, Boots and Hearts will ramp things up with nightly after-parties. It’s definitely shaping up to be the party of the summer.”

More than 20 international and Canadian artists will perform on two stages during the festival. Fans will be able to camp out at the festival grounds which offers more than 750 acres. Sugarland’s 2012 Concert Tour Will Be “In The Hands Of The Fans”

Sugarland photo by Jennifer Tzar, courtesy of UMG Nashville.

Ever been to a concert and left disappointed because you didn’t hear your favorite song? Sugarland is going to make sure that doesn’t happen by leaving their next tour up to the audience. The duo’s ‘In the Hands of Fans Tour’ which will rely solely on fans to choose what songs they will perform in each city. If Sugarland has recorded it or performed it, then the song is eligible for the set list.

“This year’s tour is based around the concept of putting the show into the hands of the fans,” Jennifer Nettles said. “THEY will make the requests that will help form the set list and guide the show. Through texts, handwritten signs, the Internet, Twitter, Facebook, phone calls made during the show and selections directly from the stage, the fans will become the conductors as well as the audience. If it’s on one of our records or if we’ve played it on a stage it is fair game.”

The tour will kick off April 5th in Toledo, Ohio and select dates will feature special guests Lauren Alaina and Canaan Smith. Fans will be able to start making requests soon and can sign up HERE to be alerted when the request lines open. Continue Reading
