Carrie Underwood‘s pre-Christmas engagement to Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher was a surprise to her fans, since Carrie usually keeps mum about her private life. But fans will notice that the talented singer is slowly opening up a little more, in both her music and interviews.

Dial-Global reports new details on the upcoming Underwood-Fisher wedding, via interviews Carrie did with a Canadian radio station and TV show.

Carrie says after Mike proposed, they had to speed dial their news. “The night it happened we had to call everybody quickly,” she tells the radio station, “because we knew the news would get out pretty quick and within two hours someone had texted Mike and it was like, ‘Yeah, your little secret is out.’”

Carrie reveals Mike is more involved in the wedding planning than he claims. “He jumps in, and he always says he doesn’t. He’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t care. Just whatever you want!… But then I go and ask him, ‘What do you think about this?’ And he’ll go, ‘Oh, no,’ and he’ll weigh in. I think he’s going to be more involved than he initially though he wanted to be, which is good. I need help.”

The fitness-minded couple might even schedule time to visit a gym on their wedding day. Carrie told a Canadian exercise show, “Mike and I will work out together. It’s just kind of fun and I just know that no matter what, we’ll both be around for a long time and we’ll teach our kids good, healthy habits.” 

 ”Genetics are not exactly on my side,” Carrie continues. “Once I got out of high school I packed on about 10 pounds, and once I was on American Idol I packed on another 10 pounds. I carry all my stress weight, all my potato chip weight, around my mid-section. You’ve got to fight genetics sometimes.”

Carrie fights the good fight on the road by bypassing backstage eats for healthier fare. “I do not eat catering,” she says. “I have a refrigerator on the bus and when we’re in a decent town that has a decent grocery store, I just go and stock up. My off days on the road are spent doing laundry and buying groceries.”

At home, Carrie has a personal trainer to keep her in line. “I need it,” she admits. “Especially with a tour coming up and a wedding to look good for.”

Many country stars enjoy dressing up for Halloween – and some avoid it altogether. Dial-Global recently spoke with Justin Moore, Big Kenny & Dierks Bentley about their Halloween plans.

“I absolutely hate Halloween,” Just tells Dial-Global. “Everybody makes fun of me ’cause I despise Halloween and I don’t know why. I was a real serious child, which makes no sense because I’m never serious now, but I never wanted to dress up as a kid. My parents, they’re like, ‘You are the strangest kid.’”

As one might expect, the opposite is true for Big Kenny. “Halloween is the great American excuse for everybody to get dressed up, eat, drink and be merry together and spook the dickens out of all the kids and even some dudes like me who are still spookable,” he says. “I’ve always loved to dress up. My kid dresses up every day like it’s Halloween. When any of his friends come over, they’re all dressing up like it’s Halloween. He dressed up like a pirate to go to church. He goes to school dressed like Captain America. He goes to the grocery store dressed like Peter Pan, carrying a light saber. He does not know anything other than that, nor should he when he’s three years old. He’s gonna be a great, inspiring happy soul.”

Unfortunately, Dierks is playing a show in Michigan on Saturday and will miss daughter Evie’s first Halloween. But, he says he and wife Cassidy have found the perfect costume.

“My daughter, she loves to play the drums but then she’ll also take the drum stick and we’ll have a little sword fight,” says Dierks. “And she’s kind of looks like a little Yoda anyway, so we were online looking and got her a little Yoda outfit with the ears and the little cape.”

In the country music world, Miranda Lambert‘s leaving a trail of awards, album sales and hits. But boyfriend Blake Shelton tells Dial-Global that back in Oklahhoma – where they both have homes – she’s been leaving a trail of paint … and cocktails.

It seems that Miranda is always painting something at her farm and she often goes to the town’s lumberyard to get the paint. Blake shares that, while running errands one day after buying white paint, she stopped to get gas and the paint tipped over, spilling onto the parking lot.

“This parking lot is just white,” says Blake, “but the best part about it is that you can watch when she left the gas station and follow her tire tracks out of the gas station two blocks down the road into the liquor store right up to the front parking spot of the liquor store. Everybody in town knew where she went after she left the gas station that day. And then the tire tracks kind of fade off as they go back towards her house.”

Warning: If you’re at a Miranda Lambert concert, do NOT toss a beach ball into the crowd! Miranda, who just got off Kenny Chesney‘s “Sun City Carnival” tour, tells Dial-Global those plastic spheres are not welcome in her set.

“I hate beach balls,” she says, laughing. “I just feel like people are so distracted from the music when they’re trying to worry about a beach ball hittin’ ‘em on the head and bouncin’ around like a volleyball. And people down front get hit in the back of the head ’cause they don’t see it coming. This one guy hit me in the face during ‘Gunpowder and Lead’ at one arena out with Kenny with this giant beach ball and that’s when I snapped. I actually popped that beach ball with my heel of my shoe — but I started keeping a knife on the drum riser for occasions just like that.”
