Kenny Chesney Throws Boston Hurricane Party

Nothing can stop Kenny Chesney‘s fans — not even Hurricane Irene! Last Saturday in Foxboro, MA, as 2,000 tickets released on the day of the show were snapped up within minutes despite hurricane warnings, bringing the attendance for Saturday’s show to 59,000 and the total for Kenny’s two sold-out Gillette Stadium shows to over 106,000.

Kenny celebrated the close of his 2011 ‘Goin’ Coastal’ Tour with a set that included a massive crowd sing-along on “She’s From Boston,” a high kicking chorus line by Billy Currington and his band on “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” ”Baby Got Back” with Zac Brown Band, and a mid-set award by CMA President Steve Moore to Kenny’s keyboardist Wyatt Beard as the CMA’s first-ever ‘Touring Musician of the Year.’  Kenny called the Foxboro crowd “one of the loudest and most loving crowds of the tour.”

Kenny’s Foxboro concert was an exciting cap to an eventful week for the superstar.  On Friday, he regaled his fans at the first CMA Songwriter Series event in Boston, an intimate performance chat with a handful of Music Row’s biggest hitmakers.  He also made a surprise visit to the Boston College football team the Eagles on Friday following a screening of his documentary ‘The Boys of Fall’, then spent an hour practicing with the New England Patriots but was unsuccessful in attempting Continue Reading

Taylor Swift Takes Kenny Chesney’s Place in New England

When Taylor Swift won Entertainer of the Year at last month’s Country Music Association Awards, she supplanted Kenny Chesney at the top of the organization’s food chain. Now, she’s taking his place in Boston, too, selling out Gillette Stadium Saturday in a mere 20 minutes, according to The Attleboro Sun Chronicle.

Taylor becomes the first female solo artist to top the bill at the home of the New England Patriots’ football team, though she’s hardly the only country artist to do that. Toby Keith sold out the stadium in Foxborough, Mass., at least once, and Kenny’s done it every summer since 2005.
