As Blake Shelton releases his All About Tonight album today, he’s got plenty of numbers to consider.
It’s album No. 2 in 2010, it contains six tracks, and it comes out just 10 days after he marked nine years since his debut album. And another important number —the price for All About Tonight — it’s listed at $7.99 most places but we found it at Amazon MP3 for only $5.49. These numbers all add up to an emerging trend in record sales.
With consumers more and more downloading singles instead of buying entire albums, there’s less money coming into the record business. Hoping to prop up its sales volume, Reprise Records came up with the “Six-Pak” concept, releasing a half-dozen songs on an album instead of 10 or 12. It makes for a less-expensive product, which in turn made Blake’s previous “Six-Pak,” Hillbilly Bone, one of the best-selling albums of his career. And because the “Six-Pak” albums have fewer songs on them, he’s releasing this new project just five months after Hillbilly Bone.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill assembled an impressive array of stars for this week’s Nashville Rising flood-relief concert, and a bunch of them join host Nan Kelley on this week’s edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.
Jason Aldean, Julie Roberts, Luke Bryan and LeAnn Rimes all found their way onto the stage at Music City’s Bridgestone Arena as Nashville’s music community gathered together to assist the town as it recovers from a devastating flood the first weekend in May. Altogether, organizers expect the show will generate $2 million to $3 million total to aid a bevy of rejuvenation efforts.

From the minute Tim McGraw and Faith Hill announced plans for their multi-artist flood-relief concert Nashville Rising, the event looked like the kind of evening ripe for surprises. And it was.
Even after Brooks & Dunn were forced to cancel because of Ronnie Dunn’s throat problems, a few unannounced stars made their way Tuesday to Music City’s Bridgestone Arena, one of numerous downtown facilities that took in water during the early-May flood. Trace Adkins popped onstage to join Blake Shelton on “Hillbilly Bone,” according to USA Today. And Sandra Bullock — who worked with Tim on the movie The Blind Side — took the spotlight and comically picked out the opening chords from Deep Purple’s classic-rock standard “Smoke On The Water.” Then she got serious.

Miranda Lambert’s 3rd Annual Cause for Paws Event, hosted by her charity, MuttNation Foundation, was held May 15 in Tyler, Texas and raised $91,000 in ticket sales, sponsorships and auction items. The money will benefit the East Texas Humane Society. Miranda has helped raise $325,000 for the organization in the last three years.
“It is the best feeling in the world to know we are helping in the fight to treat and find homes for abandoned and abused animals,” Miranda said. “Since we started working with the Humane Society of East Texas over 3 years ago, we have donated over $325,000 and they have become a ‘no kill’ shelter. Every year it amazes me that people spend their hard-earned money to partner with us in this fight. I am very grateful!”
Miranda and her band performed during the event along with special guests Nightwork, Kacey Musgraves and Whiskey Myers. Miranda’s fiancé, Blake Shelton, also made a surprise appearance. Miranda agreed to donate $2800 if he would sing “Hillbilly Bone.” She then invited the audience to come forward with “tips” while she and Blake sang together. Over $1000 was collected during their song.

It’s barely been a week since Miranda Lambert received a ring — and a wedding proposal — from longtime boyfriend Blake Shelton.
Since they began dating in 2005, she’s fielded frequent questions from the media about when they might tie the knot, which only put more focus on the possibility. But while she hoped internally that it would happen, she gave Blake the space to pop the question when he was ready. He asked her May 9 in the woods near her home in Tishomingo, Okla., and she didn’t see the proposal coming.

Blake Shelton invoked the name of Country Music Hall of Famer Conway Twitty in the opening line of “Hillbilly Bone,” and he employed Trace Adkins in bringing it to life.
So when Blake celebrated the song at a No. 1 party on Wednesday, it was only appropriate that a couple of other artist attachments came into play. The party took place at the Starstruck offices, a building owned by Reba McEntire. Reba’s husband, Narvel Blackstock, is Blake’s manager. Blake also brought along Miranda Lambert, to whom he’s newly engaged, though Miranda remained out of sight for most of the event, presumably to avoid distracting attention from the accomplishment of her future husband.

Blake Shelton won his first Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Event of the Year, with buddy Trace Adkins for their No. 1 Single, “Hillbilly Bone.” The award was presented last night by Bob Romeo, Executive Director of the Academy of Country Music, in an off-camera ceremony.
“This has been an amazing year for me,” said Blake. “If you would have asked me 10 years ago when I started out that I would have an Academy of Country Music Award and a performance on the award show, I would have thought you were pulling my leg. Continue Reading

Blake Shelton made a nice showing in the first week of his new album’s release, and he’ll have something to say about it this weekend when he joins host Nan Kelley on the latest edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.
Buoyed by his duet with Trace Adkins on the title track, Blake’s six-pack Hillbilly Bone sold 71,000 copies, landing him at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200, trailing only Lady Antebellum and Sade. Blake’s been reminding fans daily via Twitter that he’s got an album for sale, and even Thursday he was still encouraging people to go down to Wal-mart for a copy.

What to wear. What to do in Las Vegas. When to travel. What to say if you win.
Tuesday’s nominations for the 45th annual Academy of Country Music Awards presented a whole host of issues and questions for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Darius Rucker.
Not that any of them are complaining. An ACM nod represents recognition from their peers and the possibility of getting valuable television exposure. Plus, there’s always the possibility of bringing home some hardware for the trophy case.
Here’s what some of this year’s finalists are saying:
