Jake Owen is back on the road after undergoing surgery on his broken collarbone on January 17. He performed for a near sell-out crowd at Cowboy’s in Dallas on Friday night and a sold-out crowd at Riverwind Casino in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday night.

“I’m not very good at sitting around the house taking it easy,” Jake said. “I had eight screws and a metal plate put in to repair my collarbone, so I’ve had to spend a lot of time at doctor’s appointments and physical therapy sessions over the past few weeks. Getting back out onstage was the best therapy I’ve had.”

Jake has several dates lined up through February, but will make a pit stop March 1 to be a guest on Chelsea Lately, hosted by Chelsea Handler, which airs at 11/10 CT on E! “I can’t wait to meet Chelsea,” Jake said. “She’s fearless.”

Jake’s latest single, “Alone with You,” broke into the Top 10 on the country chart this week. He will also have a song featured on the Act of Valor soundtrack. Jake will be a special guest on Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney’s Brothers of the Sun Tour this summer.

Relativity Music Group will release the Act of Valor soundtrack on February 21, featuring original songs written and inspired by the Navy SEAL action-thriller. It will include “For You,” a song written by Keith Urban that is featured in the film’s end credits, as well as music from Lady Antebellum, Sugarland, Trace Adkins, Wynonna Judd, Montgomery Gentry, and more. In theaters February 24, Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy Seals along with actors Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nestor Serrano.

Produced and directed by Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh and written by Kurt Johnstad, Act of Valor takes audiences into the secretive world of the most elite, highly-trained force in the modern world as the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S. Inspired by true events, the film combines combat sequences, battlefield technology and heart-pounding emotion.

Jake Owen underwent surgery in Nashville yesterday after breaking his collarbone in a snowboarding accident on Friday the 13th while  in Crested Butte, CO for the BMI Songwriter’s Festival. Jake shared the story via Twitter and with GAC’s Storme Warren. “Man, it wasn’t like I was doing anything crazy,” he said. “That’s why this is such a freak accident but the reality is if you’re not falling, you’re not learning.”

Jake caught a flight back to Nashville as soon as possible. where his doctor confirmed he’d suffered multiple fractures in his collarbone and recommended surgery immediately. Because of the recovery time and weeks of rehabilitation, Jake had to reschedule his January tour dates. His doctors said they expect him to make a full recovery.

“I’m so bummed that I have to postpone some shows but I promise you this, I’ll be back out on the road as soon as possible,” he said. “I probably won’t be able to hold a guitar for a while but I can still perform.”

Last night, Jake tweeted the photo above, saying “I’m out y’all. Took longer than expected. I’m a lil groggy but I’ll b back at it soon. Thanks for all your kind words.”

Jake’s sold-out shows originally scheduled for January 18 and 19 at Joe’s Bar in Chicago, IL have already been rescheduled for April 18 and 19. The shows originally scheduled for January 20 and 21 at Island Resort & Casino in Harris, MI have been rescheduled for April 20 and 21.

The last time Jake wore a sling proved to be life-changing. He first picked up a guitar and writing songs while he was recovering from reconstructive shoulder surgery following a wake boarding accident. “If it weren’t for that wake boarding accident, I might not even be a singer/songwriter today,” he said.

GAC sends get well soon wishes to Jake Owen, who broke his collarbone yesterday while snowboarding in Colorado, reported Taste Of Country.

“Just broke my collar bone,” Jake tweeted. “Guess I charged this mountain a little too hard.”
