The rosters have been announced for the City of Hope’s 20th annual Celebrity Softball Challenge on June 7 in Nashville. Rival teams Grand Ole Opry and “After MidNite with Blair Garner” will face off with star-studded lineups featuring country music artists, comedians, and professional athletes.
Playing for the “After MidNite with Blair Garner” team are Keith Anderson, MLB’s Ben Broussard, Chuck Wicks, David Nail, Joe Nichols, Josh Thompson, Luke Bryan, comedienne Melissa Peterman, JP Dumont of the Nashville Predators, Mike Gossin and Rachel Reinart of Gloriana, Randy Montana, Savannah Jack, The Oak Ridge Boys, Ken Amato and Donnie Nickey of the Titans, Vince Gill and Whitney Duncan. When host Nan Kelley runs through this week’s edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown, the list will include a new name, Jaron And The Long Road To Love, which represents an artist who’s as stunned as anyone to be on the countdown.
Jaron Lowenstein established himself as one-half of the pop duo Evan & Jaron, which picked up a Top 20 hit in 2000 with “Crazy For That Girl.” Jaron’s twin brother, Evan, has moved down another career path, but Jaron continued pursuing life as a solo act. He was completely surprised when “Pray For You,” an acerbic kiss-off song, became an instant hit with fans.

Their first names — Jerrod and Jaron — sound a lot alike, they’ve both had previous success in the music industry, and they’re both in country’s Top 20 as artists for the first time in their careers. Now Jerrod Niemann and Jaron Lowenstein, a.k.a. Jaron And The Long Road To Love, have new albums coming this summer.
Jerrod’s “Lover, Lover” is at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and his 12-song album Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury is expected July 13. Jaron’s “Pray For You” is at No. 20, and his first solo album, Getting Dressed In The Dark, comes out June 22.
