Alabama has announced that they will spearhead ‘BAMA RISING: A Benefit Concert for Alabama Tornado Recovery’ at Birmingham’s BJCC Arena on June 14. The concert will raise funds for relief efforts after tornados ravaged Alabama on April 27. Brad Paisley, Martina McBride, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker are just some of the artists scheduled to perform during the concert, which will be presented by Verizon.

“My hope is that this will bring happiness and help to my fellow citizens in Alabama,” Alabama’s Randy Owen said. “I believe it’s extremely important that we do this benefit, and I want everyone in the state to feel like they are part of it. I hope we all can pull together to help get through the worst natural disaster I’ve ever seen in Alabama. I appreciate my friends in country music, everyone that’s been involved, and anyone that’s helped in any way.”

After being away from the spotlight for a few years, Sara Evans is back with a new CD, Stronger, and a new single, “A Little Bit Stronger.” She recently sat down with Top 20 Country Countdown host Nan Kelley to reveal what she’s been up to during the “downtime” — which really wasn’t “downtime,” considering she got remarried, blended husband Jay Barker’s family with hers and settled down in Birmingham.

More than three years after her world fell apart practically on a public stage, Sara Evans has re-established her personal life and now hopes to get her career chugging along at its previous pace.

In the fall of 2006, she quit “Dancing With The Stars” as her marriage to politician Craig Schelske crumbled amid a series of accusations and lawsuits. The court documents, often available online, gave plenty of fodder for gossip, and she frequently saw her name in the tabloids. Even more frequently, her own fans chose up sides and played armchair psychiatrist.

Sara’s only now starting to talk about the way her family was turned upside down and the way it challenged her as a mother.
