Miranda Lambert Performs “Baggage Claim” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Miranda Lambert, the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year,  was the musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this past Monday night.  Miranda performed her smash hit “Baggage Claim.”  After the performance Jay congratulated Miranda and told her “she cleans up nice” to which Miranda jokingly responded,  “so do you!”  Jay should have been more careful, Miranda could have been packin’ heat!

It’s a cool performance, check it out here and let us know what you think!

Brad Paisley Lives Beyond His Dreams

Brad Paisley performs “This is Country Music” at “The 44th Annual CMA Awards,” live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, on the ABC Television Network. Photographer: John Russell / CMA

From the day Brad Paisley signed his first recording contract more than 10 years ago, he had a plan. He knew how he wanted his first album to introduce him, the kinds of talents and lyrical themes he wanted to unveil on the second and even a bit of how the third project should go.

Plans change, of course, and Brad’s planned and adjusted repeatedly through the years, finally finding himself at the top of the country music heap in 2010. He won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award after being nominated six straight years.

But it wasn’t the only highlight of the last 12 months for Brad. He put out his first greatest-hits album, he was the first musical guest when Jay Leno resumed his place as the host of “The Tonight Show,” and he got a personal phone call from President Barack Obama with words of encouragement for the city of Nashville in the wake of the floods in May. If that weren’t enough, Brad played for an estimated 65,000 people in boats during an AquaPalooza concert at Lake Travis in Texas. And he headlined a sold-out stadium for the first time, playing Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., with Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Sara Evans and Easton Corbin.

All of that planning he did in the beginning? Well, Brad’s way beyond any of his expectations.

Garth Brooks: Expensive Bodyguard

Garth Brooks photo by Mark Tucker, courtesy of Pearl Records.

A lot of fans might not be aware of it, but one of the most frustrating things for people who are friends with stars is when a meal gets interrupted by autograph hounds at a restaurant. Conversations get cut short, food gets cold, and it sends a signal to other customers that somebody famous is there.

Most stars have gotten used to it — after all, most people don’t see a star in the same place they’re eating every day. So when Garth Brooks had a business dinner with casino owner Steve Wynn in Las Vegas, he knew how to handle the situation when a few fans approached them.

Kenny Chesney Promoting Movie With Leno

Kenny Chesney’s made numerous appearances on “The Tonight Show” over the years, but it’s always been as a singer. The formula changes a little April 15 when Kenny shows up to promote a film. He’ll visit with Jay Leno six days prior to the release of his concert film Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D.

“It’s sorta strange to be going on ‘The Tonight Show’ with a movie coming out,” Kenny says. “It’s very different, the idea of showing clips and talking about the experience of making this film. But it’s something we’ re all — me, the band, Joe Thomas the director, all the guys who worked on it — are really proud of, and it’s definitely getting me out of my comfort zone.”

Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley Go Network Next Week

Rascal Flatts

With the Olympics in full swing, network prime-time TV has gotten pretty bland. You either get winter sports on NBC or you mostly see reruns on the other channels — all the more reason you should be watching GAC!

But all returns to normalcy next week once the Winter Games are over, and several country stars — Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley — will be right in the thick of it. Flatts and Carrie have acting roles on tap, while Brad will perform in a talk-show episode that has a little connection to history.

On tap next week:

Brad Paisley Loves Crappy Coffee

Last week Brad Paisley made a special appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.  During the interview, Jimmy got Brad to spill the beans about a rare, exotic coffee that he and his band keep on their bus.   Brad says in the interview that his good friend and former Olympic figure skater Scott Hamilton actually recommended he try the coffee.  In fact, Brad goes on to say that Oprah has even talked about this particular, aromatic brand of coffee on her show… but I promise you that when you watch the interview clip and hear the dirty details about how this rare brew is made,  you’re probably just going to stick with your regular store-bought brand of joe. The Tulsa World Scene reports Vince Gill will receive the 2009 Spirit of Will Rogers Award on Nov. 8 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa. Vince joins past winners Toby Keith, Garth Brooks and Jane Goodall, among others. Tickets are pricey, starting at $125, and table prices range from $1,700 to $10,000 — but proceeds, in part, will benefit American Blue Star Mothers, Oklahoma Chapter 1, which sends “Freedom Boxes,” or care packages, to troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and on any hostile foreign soil.

In other Vince news, tonight he’ll be in Los Angeles, performing with Emmylou Harris on The Jay Leno Show at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. While in L.A., Vince and Emmylou will share the stage with Melissa Etheridge Continue Reading

Garth Brooks Flames Out

In what’s starting to become a mini-routine, Garth Brooks gave an exclusive concert Sunday in Calgary, Alberta, for members of the NHL’s Calgary Flames.

Garth appeared at the Palomino Smokehouse in a show that was so private the venue’s owner didn’t even know he was coming. Fred Konopaki had been told the place was being booked for a private party for the Flames and that they would have “a guy coming in to play guitar at some point,” Fred told The Calgary Herald. When they finally told him who the guitar player would be, he scoffed: “I said, ‘Garth Brooks? C’mon!’” Continue Reading
