Country stars not only performed some of their favorite Christmas songs during the CMA Country Christmas concert special that airs tonight at 9/8c on ABC, they also revealed some of their favorite family Christmas traditions during fireside chats that will air throughout the special.

Lauren Alaina and her mother Kristy Suddeth shared that one of their family traditions is decorating their home for the holidays. “We go all out,” Lauren said. “We’re serious about our Christmas decorations. When they don’t work, we are mad.” Lauren also confessed that she snoops for her presents before Christmas Day.

When Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook was young, he and his siblings would pile up together on mattresses and blankets on the floor of what he called the family’s ‘little bitty house.’ “That is harmony,” he said. “That is family. That is what Christmas is all about.”

Martina McBride’s three daughters, Ava–6, Emma–13, and Delaney–16, joined Martina for her fireside chat. The McBride ladies shared their favorite Christmas recipe. “We have a weird salad we make,” Martina said, revealing the ingredients to be a jar of pimento cheese, a can of pineapple, half a bag of marshmallows, and a carton of Cool Whip all mixed  together. “It’s so good!” she said. Little Big Town on the Top 20 Country Countdown set with host Nan Kelley.

Little Big Town releases its new album, The Reason Why, on Tuesday, and this weekend, the band talks about it with host Nan Kelley on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

The album comes at a great time for LBT. The first single, “Little White Church,” is in the Top 10 on the countdown, and two of the group’s members — Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild — had a chance to adjust to parenthood while they took some downtime from the road to record the album.

Looks like Little Big Town is going to need a bigger bus this year!  Preferably one with a nursery.

Congratulations goes out to Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook on the birth of their first child, a son,  this past Friday in Nashville, TN.  Baby Elijah Dylan Westbrook weighed 7 lbs., 14 oz., and was 19 and ¾ inches long.

People.com caught up with the happy new parents, “We’ve been waiting for this for a long time and can’t tell you how thrilled and blessed we both feel,” says Karen, who went on to say that her hubby is going to be a “natural” at fatherhood. Continue Reading

The Associated Press reports that Little Big Town‘s Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild are expecting their first child. They made the announcement just before performing at the “All for the Hall” Country Music Hall of Fame fundraiser concert Tuesday night.

The AP says when LBT was asked if the group had anything new to talk about, Kimberly Schlapman pointed at Karen’s  belly and said, “I have something really new.” Continue Reading
