Zac Brown Band will release their latest album, Uncaged, on July 10. The album will mark the official debut of ZBB’s newest member, world renowned percussionist Daniel de los Reyes. “It’s your basic country-Southern rock-bluegrass-reggae-jam record,” Zac Brown joked to the Associated Press.

The addition of Daniel, who has worked with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Sting and Jennifer Lopez, to the rhythm section that already includes bassist John Driskell Hopkins and drummer Chris Fryar, has enabled the band to push its sound into a new territory. “They’ve really got to be smart about how they play so it doesn’t get too busy,” Zac said. “But it really creates a new kind of pulse within the band.”

Alan contributed, in part, because he and the band have a similar connection: Keith Stegall produces both acts, and that made it a little easier to line everything up. It makes for a unique collaboration — Alan is decidedly traditional country, while the Zac Brown Band has one foot in country and the other in a sort of jam-band philosophy.

With three hit singles off the current album The Foundation, the Zac Brown Band has certainly laid the groundwork for a healthy career.

And the album title is highly appropriate, since the band hopes it’s merely a foundation for future success.

“We want to make a long career of being very good at what we do,” drummer Chris Fryar told The Roanoke Times. Continue Reading
