Top 20 Country Countdown welcomed Alison Krauss & Union Station this week. John Rich Receives the “Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award”

Randy Owen presented John Rich with the first-ever Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award during the annual songwriter’s dinner at the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids seminar over the weekend. The award recognizes a member of the country music industry who has demonstrated commitment and dedication to kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year, John won NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, where he competed on behalf of St. Jude and raised more an $1.4 million for the organization.

“St. Jude holds a very special place in my heart,” John said. “It’s like no other place and I’m just so honored to help raise awareness for this organization and to receive the first-ever Angels Among Us Award from Randy.”

“This past year John really embodied what Country Cares for St. Jude Kids is all about,” Randy said. “It’s really unbelievable to look back over the past 23 years and see what the country music industry has helped us accomplish for St. Jude. This award is a way for us to say thank you to select members of the industry for their continued commitment and support.”

Randy organized Country Cares for St. Jude Kids in 1989 when he appealed to fellow country music artists, radio stations, and country fans to help support St. Jude’s mission. Since it began, Country Cares has raised more than $400 million for St. Jude. Continue Reading

Katie Armiger to Release “Scream” as Her Next Single

Katie Armiger is serving up a treat for her fans on Halloween. She will release her new single, “Scream,” to radio on October 31. Katie co-wrote the song with Sarag Buxton and Blair Daly. The track can be found on Katie’s third studio album, Confessions of a Nice Girl, as well as the deluxe album, Confessions of a Nice Girl (The True Confessional).

“Everyone has had a relationship where nothing seems to go right and it seems like the only way to feel better or get some kind of release is to scream,” Katie said. “That’s what this song stemmed from so lots of people can relate. Katie Armiger Releases Deluxe Edition of Confessions

Katie Armiger released a new deluxe package of her album Confessions of a Nice Girl (The True Confessional) on iTunes this week. The deluxe album includes four original songs, including her current single, “I Do, But Do I.” It also includes a brand new song, “Worth It,” as well as a dance mix of her song “Best Song Ever” and an acoustic cut of “Cry Cry Cry.” It also includes music videos for “Best Song Ever” and “I Do, But Do I.”

Katie released the first edition of Confessions of a Nice Girl in October of last year. The album is Katie’s highest debut to date, landing at No. 6 on Amazon and No. 11 on iTunes. Her videos for “Best Song Ever” and “I Do, But Do I” both spent time at No. 1 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

This is a big week for Katie. Not only did she release her deluxe album, she will make her Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday during the Opry’s 7 p.m. show. She is currently out on the road opening shows for Darius Rucker and spent the summer opening for Ronnie Dunn, Little Big Town and Clay Walker.
