Keni Thomas Releases First Memoir

Keni Thomas has released his first memoir, Get It On! What it Means to Lead the Way. The book is a personal account of his experience in the 1993 Black Hawk Down battle in Mogadishu, Somalia. He wrote his story with the desire to express a set of leadership lessons he learned on what had started off as a day off and an inspired view of our greater purpose.

“Three words,” he said. “That’s all it took. I was writing a letter home to my mom when the call rang out across the American compound: ‘Get it on!’ And just like that, the course of my life changed forever,”

A recipient of the Bronze Star of Valor from the U.S. Army, Keni is a former army ranger. In his book, he reminds readers that every person matters, are anything but ordinary, and can make a difference in the world regardless of their station in life. Continue Reading

Kix Brooks, Trace Adkins Honor the Troops

Kix Brooks, Trace Adkins and Buddy Jewell are among the latest acts taking time from their schedules to honor the soldiers who put their lives on the line for their country.

Kix is in the midst of a Middle East tour, Buddy just headed out with with a package of country singers that will visit four countries, and Trace is set to appear on a TV special with a military theme before his own USO journey.

Not that it’s anything unusual for country acts. Among the artists who’ve lent themselves to the USO in the past are Toby Keith, Neal McCoy, Chely Wright, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler and the Zac Brown Band.

Keni Thomas Books World Series Performance

Keni Thomas, the country singer who formerly served with a military special ops unit that fought in Black Hawk Down, will take part in another newsworthy all-American event this week.

Keni was asked by Major League Baseball to perform “God Bless America” during the seventh inning at Yankee Stadium Wednesday in the first game of the World Series. The Philadelphia Phillies square off in the fall classic against the New York Yankees, appearing in the series for the 40th time in their history.
