GAC Time Machine: Kenny Chesney’s “Fall In Love”

Kenny Chesney in his 1993 video, "Fall In Love."

Cowboy hat — check. Starched white shirt — check. Baby face full of charm — check. It’s all there in Kenny Chesney‘s 1993 video for ”Fall In Love,” a song which went Top 10 for the new artist, who was fighting for chart space with other country newcomers including Tim McGraw, Tracy Byrd and Rhett Akins. In this week’s trip back in time, we celebrate Kenny’s east Tennessee charm and his ultra sweet dance moves (especially at the video’s 1 minute mark).

Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey Almost Didn’t Happen

Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey is nominated for ACM Album of the Year and contains two No. 1 singles with “The Boys Of Fall” and “Somewhere With You.” The third single from the album, “Live A Little,” is in the Top 20 at radio and climbing. Kenny has been vocal about how proud he is of this album. But as it turns out, Hemingway’s Whiskey almost didn’t happen.

“I took a lot of extra time with Hemingway’s Whiskey,” he said. “I had a whole other album done and almost turned it in. I realized in my heart of hearts that that album wasn’t right. I scrapped all of it except for ‘The Boys Of Fall,’ ‘Somewhere With You,’ and a song called ‘Seven Days.’ That’s the only songs that I kept from that original session and I went to work again, Buddy Cannon and I.”

It was the time off in the summer of 2010 that allowed Kenny the opportunity to focus on Hemingway’s Whiskey. Subsequently, he says it made the ACM Album of the Year nomination a little more special than his other four nominations. Continue Reading

From Crazy Heart to Country Strong, Hollywood and Nashville were tightly linked in 2010.

Tim McGraw, Julianne Hough, Trace Adkins and Carrie Underwood all went in front of the cameras. And artists as diverse as Ryan Bingham, Billy Currington, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney got their music on the big screen in one way or another.

Country’s role in a large number of movies ranks No. 7 in GAC’s countdown of the dozen top stories of 2010.

After hitting the concert trail for most of the last decade with summer tours that included a good share of stadium dates, Kenny Chesney rather famously stayed off the road for most of 2010, playing just a handful of shows and concentrating instead on his forthcoming album Hemingway’s Whiskey.

But Kenny’s also been thinking about 2011 when he will indeed be back out in full force, playing about 60 concerts, including some of those stadium gigs.

You’ve seen him on awards shows, you’ve seen him at stadiums, you’ve seen him on TV. Now you can see Kenny Chesney at your local theater with Wednesday’s debut of his concert picture, Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D.

The movie uses footage captured by 22 cameras during his 2009 performances at stadiums in five different cities: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, Boston and Indianapolis. And while it’s not really a romantic picture, it is indeed about a relationship.

Kenny Chesney’s made numerous appearances on “The Tonight Show” over the years, but it’s always been as a singer. The formula changes a little April 15 when Kenny shows up to promote a film. He’ll visit with Jay Leno six days prior to the release of his concert film Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D.

“It’s sorta strange to be going on ‘The Tonight Show’ with a movie coming out,” Kenny says. “It’s very different, the idea of showing clips and talking about the experience of making this film. But it’s something we’ re all — me, the band, Joe Thomas the director, all the guys who worked on it — are really proud of, and it’s definitely getting me out of my comfort zone.”

“It wouldn’t be summer without you!”

So Kenny Chesney yells at the end of his 69-second trailer for Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D, which appeared Wednesday on Moviefone, AOL Music and AOL’s country section, The Boot.

Kenny will nonetheless spend much of summer without his fans next year as he plans to spend the hottest part of the year without mounting a tour for the first time in eight years or more. With the exception of a comparatively small number of dates, Summer In 3D will have to do for the fans.
