Out Among The Stars, the lost Johnny Cash album recently discovered by his son John Carter Cash, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard top 200 Albums Chart. The album also debuted in the Top 5 in multiple markets internationally.
The album is comprised of 12 previously unreleased songs that were recorded 30 years ago and has earned acclaim from a number of critics, including Billboard which said, “Stars holds up among Cash’s best work – even if it took 30 years to officially complete it.” Continue Reading

New music is on the way from Johnny Cash, reports The Hollywood Reporter. On March 25, his estate is releasing Out Among the Stars, an album Johnny recorded with Billy Sherrill in the early 1980s. It was never released by Columbia Records and disappeared when the label dropped Johnny in 1986. The tape was found stashed among Johnny and wife June Carter Cash’s possessions.
“They never threw anything away,” their son John Carter Cash said. “They kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it from the original audio tapes from The Johnny Cash Show to random things like a camel saddle, a gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia.” Continue Reading
