Carrie Underwood fans, rejoice! Carrie will release her new single, “Good Girl,” to country radio on February 23. The five-time Grammy winner’s new CD will arrive later this spring.
Carrie wrote the track with Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley, who co-wrote two of her No. 1 hits — “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “All-American Girl.” Once again Carrie teamed up with Mark Bright, who produced her two previous albums as well as seven tracks from her debut album Some Hearts.
Since releasing Some Hearts in 2005, Carrie has sold more than 14 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On. She’s amassed 14 No. 1 singles, six of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums.
Carrie is a current Grammy Award nominee and a five-time Grammy Award winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Here’s a message from Carrie about “Good Girl”: Continue Reading

The Grand Ole Opry will mark the 1-year anniversary of the flood that devastated Nashville and temporarily displaced the Opry from the Grand Ole Opry House in the only way that’s fitting – with an all-star concert on the Opry stage. The show, Play On, Nashville!, will take place May 3 at the Opry House with Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Charlie Daniels Band, and more scheduled to perform.
“The May 2010 flood devastated homes, businesses and lives, but it also showcased the unsinkable spirit of our city and its citizens in ways we are still learning about a year later,” said Pete Fisher, Opry vice president and general manager. “We want to celebrate that the Opry’s hometown is stronger than ever the best way we know how— with a one-of-a-kind night of great music.”
Four feet of water filled the Grand Ole Opry house and the show temporarily moved to several other Nashville venues throughout the summer while the Opry House was repaired. It took six months of restoration and recovery for the Opry to return home. Despite the devastation, both to the Opry and all over Nashville, the show never missed a beat, putting on the Tuesday night show following the weekend floods at War Memorial Auditorium.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since the flood,” said Opry member Dierks Bentley. “The city of Nashville, the Opry, and the country music community were so resilient and came together to rebuild so quickly after the devastation. I’ve never been more proud to be an Opry member, and I’m looking forward to celebrating that sense of community again on Tuesday.” Continue Reading

Hot off the heels of her wedding and honeymoon, Carrie Underwood has once again found herself at the top of the charts. Her latest hit, “Undo It,” is the third consecutive chart topper from her platinum selling Play On album. The song is one of seven tracks on the album she co-wrote, and it becomes the sixth No. 1 hit of her career that she’s had a hand in writing.
And while the track is just now hitting the top spot on the country singles chart, her video for the song has had a lock on the No. 1 position on GAC’s fan-voted Top 20 Country Countdown for five weeks running. Continue Reading

If she was blowing out candles on her birthday cake on Wednesday, Carrie Underwood likely didn’t bother to count out the 27 wicks that should have decorated the dessert.
She’s piled up some impressive numbers in the music business: 11 straight chart-topping singles, 11 million albums sold, 1.2 million tickets sold on her last concert tour. But she’s a bit nonplussed by all the music-business arithmetic.

Carrie Underwood’s new Play On album is perhaps the most representative of her yet as an artist. Of the 13 songs she recorded, Carrie wrote seven, including the first single, “Cowboy Casanova.”
Coming out of her win on “American Idol,” Carrie was launched straight into the life of an artist, a career she hadn’t actually planned to pursue. She picked up her earliest hits from other songwriters, but she already had a foundation to begin writing her own. After all, she’d done plenty of writing when she pursued a journalism degree before her “AI” tryout.

Carrie Underwood chats with host Nan Kelley on the set of Top 20 Country Countdown.
Carrie Underwood’s third album hits the streets on Tuesday, and she’s already made a huge impact with the first single, “Cowboy Casanova,” which debuted this past weekend at No. 1 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.
“Casanova” is a boisterous, big-sounding song, but it’s just one part of Play On, which still packs plenty of different tempos and energy levels, as did her first two albums.

Carrie Underwood chats with host Nan Kelley on the set of Top 20 Country Countdown.
Carrie Underwood’s third album, Play On, hits stores both physical and virtual on Tuesday, and she’ll hit the small screen Friday in an interview with Nan Kelley on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown, hosted this weekend by Suzanne Alexander.
It’s great timing. The album’s first video debuts at No. 1 on the show, as “Cowboy Casanova” employs a fair share of Michael Jackson-like group dance shots. Carrie’s also slated to co-host the 43rd Annual Country Music Association Awards with Brad Paisley on Nov. 11, and she’s up for an American Music Award Nov. 22. She’ll host her first network TV special on FOX on Dec. 7.

If you ask Carrie Underwood, she’d likely tell you Miley Cyrus had the right idea when she stopped using Twitter to stay in touch with her fans.
Carrie’s gone multi-platinum with each of her first two albums and won the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year award three times in a row. People want to know everything they can find out about her. But even after engaging a huge fan base through her introduction on “American Idol,” Carrie’s been reticent to give away too much of her personal life for public consumption. And she’s completely disinterested in creating a Twitter account.
