New artist Kip Moore has had a great first week at country radio. His debut single, “Mary Was The Marrying Kind,” came in as the fourth most-added song this week. The song, released to radio on Monday, came in behind superstars Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, and Toby Keith, with 22 radio stations adding the track, according to Country Aircheck.
“This early reception is a complete shock, to be honest,” Kip said. “There is nothing more flattering than when someone appreciates something you wrote and put your heart and soul into. There’s not a greater compliment in the world than having people at radio who listen to music every day pay attention to your lyrics and enjoy what you do.”
The song, written by Kip, Dan Couch and Scott Stepakoff, is about the one who got away. It is a true story of one of Kip’s friends who returned to his hometown after six years and saw a once tall, lanky girl had come into her own and become a model. Continue Reading

Darius Rucker’s latest single, “This,” is flying up the country charts. Co-written by Darius, Frank Rogers, and Kara DioGuardi, Darius said many people misconstrue the actual meaning of the song.
“It’s so funny to me to hear people talk about that song and how it’s about relationships,” Darius told GAC from the 2011 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. ”To me, that song is about country music. That’s my list.”
The video, now airing on GAC, was shot in Nashville at the historic Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church of Country Music. To Darius, it made sense to shoot the video in a place rich in country music history.
“We were going to do it in Nashville outside, but the rain was so bad and we ended up doing the Ryman, which was just the perfect place to do it,” Darius said. Continue Reading
