Country Stars Who Were Engaged or Married in 2014

We love weddings at Great American Country! As a new year begins, here’s a look back at some of the country stars who were engaged or married in 2014:

Jana Kramer celebrated her 31st birthday by saying “yes” to boyfriend Michael Caussin, a professional football player. Caussin gathered a group of Kramer’s family and friends to surprise Kramer with the marriage proposal.

Brantley Gilbert proposed to Amber Cochran, a schoolteacher from his hometown, in October. Gilbert calls Cochran “the one who got away” and admits that a number of his songs, including “More Than Miles” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,” are about her. The couple plan to wed in June 2015.

Jerrod Niemann and his new wife, Morgan Petek, were married on Sunday, October 12 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The ceremony was held at sunset in Castillo de San Cristobal, a historic Spanish fort that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked that donations be made to Niemann’s nonprofit, Free the Music USA.

Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard proposed to longtime girlfriend Hayley Stommel in September. The couple got engaged during a romantic helicopter ride. Hubbard posted a photo on Instagram of the couple celebrating with champagne aboard the chopper.

Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney and his wife, Tiffany, like to ring in a new year with a trip. “For years, Tiffany and I have been able to go on a little vaca’ together and share New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day together somewhere special,” Rooney said, vowing to keep that tradition going “until the kids get quite a bit older and can stay up that late.”

“It’s important, I think, for a couple to find the time to spend together when they can, especially in this crazy business when you travel so much,” he added..

For The Band Perry, even though the family band spends much of the year together, it is still a must that they celebrate New Year’s Eve as a family, as well.

Growing up, getting a lot of presents on Christmas mornings seems great, but the siblings of The Band Perry learned something important about giving and receiving at a very early age, that has served them well into adulthood.

“I think that we in the Family Perry learned something when we were very young that has served us very true over the years,” Kimberly Perry said. “And that was, if all three of us pool our money together, then we can get our parents something bigger and better.”

Perry, along with her brothers Neil and Reid, value quality over quantity when it comes to gifts. “We love it when the other four members of the family, for me the boys and Mom and Dad, I like for them to pool their money and get me somethin’ bigger and better too,” Perry admitted.

Favorite Thanksgiving Casseroles: The Band Perry, Thomas Rhett and More

The Band Perry consider themselves to be fairly health-conscious by choosing healthy foods and sticking to a workout routine, but at Thanksgiving, all bets are off, thanks to Kimberly Perry’s sweet potato casserole.

“Here is the trick,” Perry says. “You know how most sweet potato casseroles either have marshmallows or the sugar little nutty mix on top? Well, I put both of those on there, so we have marshmallows and the sugary, nutty topping.”

Brother Neil Perry tries to trick himself into believing the casserole is healthier than it actually is since it has no butter, but big sister Kimberly has to disagree. “Oh no, it’s like 1,000 calories per spoonful,” she said.

Maddie Marlow of Maddie & Tae also has a favorite casserole for the holiday season. “My mom and I make this delicious broccoli cheese casserole, and it is the bomb.com,” she said. “I cannot go to Thanksgiving or Christmas without that casserole. And then my mom makes this amazing chocolate pecan pie. I wish you could have Thanksgiving food year-round.”

The Band Perry, Lee Brice, Brett Eldredge and Wynonna are just some of the stars participating in the 5th Annual ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp this week. The weeklong residential program is open to campers nationwide with Williams syndrome who are also talented in music. The Camp has a dual purpose of studying Williams syndrome while providing music enrichment through performance and education. ACM Lifting Lives funds the costs of the Camp, enabling the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities to advance its mission of “improving the lives of individuals with Williams syndrome and their families through research, training and service.”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Music Camp and the 5th year that ACM Lifting Lives has been involved. On Monday, campers attended a songwriting workshop with The Band Perry, crafting a song from concept to final wording. The next day, they gathered at Wildhorse Saloon to meet with The Swon Brothers and share stories about their camp experience. Continue Reading

The Band Perry

The Band Perry’s mother isn’t just a great mom, she is also a great coach. The sibling trio say their mother is very involved with their career, helping them be the best artists and performers they can possibly be. Even if it looks like she isn’t even watching their show.

“If you ever see our mother during a show, she’ll be back by the sound board, and usually she’s on her iPhone,” Kimberly Perry said. “It’s not that she’s not paying attention, but she’s taking notes from the show. Because let me tell ya, before everybody goes to bed in the bunks at night, we’re gonna be reviewing those notes.” Continue Reading
