Country stars not only performed some of their favorite Christmas songs during the CMA Country Christmas concert special that airs tonight at 9/8c on ABC, they also revealed some of their favorite family Christmas traditions during fireside chats that will air throughout the special.

Lauren Alaina and her mother Kristy Suddeth shared that one of their family traditions is decorating their home for the holidays. “We go all out,” Lauren said. “We’re serious about our Christmas decorations. When they don’t work, we are mad.” Lauren also confessed that she snoops for her presents before Christmas Day.

When Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook was young, he and his siblings would pile up together on mattresses and blankets on the floor of what he called the family’s ‘little bitty house.’ “That is harmony,” he said. “That is family. That is what Christmas is all about.”

Martina McBride’s three daughters, Ava–6, Emma–13, and Delaney–16, joined Martina for her fireside chat. The McBride ladies shared their favorite Christmas recipe. “We have a weird salad we make,” Martina said, revealing the ingredients to be a jar of pimento cheese, a can of pineapple, half a bag of marshmallows, and a carton of Cool Whip all mixed  together. “It’s so good!” she said. Congrats to Rascal Flatts‘ Joe Don Rooney and his wife, Tiffany Fallon, who are the proud parents of a daughter, Raquel Blue! They welcomed their second child on Tuesday, September 7 at 4:26 p.m. Central. Raquel weighed in at 7 pounds and is 18 inches long.  Mother and daughter are doing well.

Congratulations to Rascal Flatts‘ Joe Don Rooney and wife Tiffany Fallon, who announced via People magazine that they’re expecting their second child.

“We’re a little more prepared but the same excitement is there,” says Joe Don, already dad to 21-month-old son Jagger Donovan. “There’s such fulfillment in being a father and it’s going to be two-fold now, which is so cool.”

Tiffany, 35, told Joe Don, 34, the big news while they were staying at the same Los Angeles hotel where she revealed she was expecting Jagger. 

“It was late January and we were out by the pool chilling and she said, ‘I have something to show you,’ and she opened her purse and pulled out the stick with the positive sign,” says Joe Don. “I was like ‘Wow! We’re going to have to stop coming to this hotel. We’ll have 16 of these things before long!’ But life just couldn’t get better.”

The magazine reports the couple — due in September – are preparing Jagger to be a big brother, ”but he doesn’t quite understand yet,” Joe Don says. “I pray with him every night and we pray for his brother- or sister-to-be.”

Joe Don says they’ll find out the sex of the baby so Tiffany can “prepare the nest” — but so far they don’t agree on what it’ll be. He thinks it’ll be a girl; Tiffany predicts another boy.
